HOLY CANNOLLI! 😱🤤🇮🇹 Always heard people raving about @PapaKnowsBest cannoli and thought, meh... BUTTT omgg tried them last week and.... INCREDIBLE! 😋

Papas: The restaurant itself is a pleasant setting with the newly refurbished decor creating a classy environment. However the hard floor, walls and ceilings mean terrible acoustics resulting in a very noisy ambience even when the restaurant is just half full. Not recommended if you want a romantic dinner for two or just a chilled out pizza and catch up with a few friends. The toilets were an absolute mess and filthy. Try to avoid. Despite a great previous reputation for its patisserie section the main meals we had were very bland and inconsistently portioned. The confit duck was succulent but the jus was just bland and flat severely lacking in salt or any kind of flavour. I have relatives that can roast a potato better. The spatchcock was tasty but the accompaniments were small. Having said that we looked around at others meals and the pizza did look to be something worth trying. Well known for its ricotta cheesecake we opted for the next level with Nutella on top. Just because papas was once known for an amazing ricotta cheesecake doesn't mean it will always be known for that. Check Google reviews from about early 2016 on and you will find a lot of complaints about lack of quality control with their cakes. The cheesecake was dense and moist with an appropriate amount of pastry base that didn't appear too "soggy" as some have stated. However again the flavour was lacking. The tiramisu on the other hand was one of the best I have tried. Super light and fluffy it went down a treat. Service wasn't fantastic. The setup of the restaurant means that they obviously seat people from front to back. Since we were at the back with nothing but empty tables behind and to the side we got frequently overlooked and had to wait a while to catch the attention of a waiter. The service was polite once received. Overall it was an average experience with a much lower rating on flavour. It did not set our saliva glands flowing. Would I go there again? Possibly to try the pizza or pasta with a bunch of friends but for my money I would prefer and recommend Pappardelle just 3 blocks down the road.
